After months, if not years of hype and promotion, the Oprah Winfrey Network debuted today at noon. Did Bell ExpressVu pick it up? Has there been a single, solitary word about the carriage of this much-loved woman’s network’s launch from any of the television carriers in Canada? Come on people – get with the program ! A check of the Bell ExpressVu channel line-up makes no mention (probably because it’s the same page that’s been on the website for months), and a search of OWN or Oprah Winfrey Network turns up no results.
A consult of Oprah’s own website yields the answer: It might have launched today in the U.S., but us Canadians will have to wait until March 1st. Until then, you can see special 2 hour “nests” on Viva and W Network – Corus Entertainment stations starting January 7th. Can’t wait to see what a “nest” looks like on a national cable television program schedule.
And hopefully, our cable carriers will have something to say about it between now and the Canadian launch date of March 1st.
Isn’t it called leveraging for success to capitalize on some television excitement??
