Happy 2011

December 31st, 2010

On this, the last day of 2010, I sent the following email to clients, colleagues and friends – in lieu of Christmas Cards – and in recognition of the best year yet for BMC Inc.   Hoping that the content – which is BMC Inc’s sponsorship of a community garden in Kenya made possible by the thoroughly impressive work that my wonderful clients Linda and Dale Bolton do with Organics4Orphans – will be sufficient to over-ride the usual ‘taboo’ of sending an “All” email:-

In the spirit of giving and in a show of appreciation to clients, colleagues and friends who have made this  5th year of business in 2010 the most successful yet, it is my pleasure and privilege to sponsor a whole community in Africa for 2011.   The funds will entirely support an OAT  – ‘Organic Agricultural Trainer’  -  to learn, train and mentor our selected community to grow and manage their own bio-intensive gardens for the rest of their lives and the generations to come. The garden we will grow for all of 2011 is at a primary school in Milenya in the Kakamega Region of Kenya. To all whom I had the pleasure of seeing this year ….wishing you a Healthy and Happy 2011…and to those I missed seeing in 2010, I hope next year brings the opportunity to meet again. Happy New Year!

Less than 1 in 5 Canadians claimed a Charitable Donation in 2009

December 8th, 2010

With 2 clients in the not-for-profit sector, it’s sad to read that Canadians hit an all-time low last year when it comes to charitable donations. With the world facing the greatest challenges in history for our health and our environment, what will it take to motivate people to care and give?
