Google Maps opts for simpler

May 14th, 2010

There’s a tremendous under-utilization of the Google Maps feature called Local Business Listings. Claiming your listing on Google Maps is a virtual ‘mini-website’ for small business. You can upload photos, videos, copy and even coupons – plus – there’s a full-fledged dashboard for data on visits and clicks. About a month ago, Google quietly renamed the Local Business Listings or LBLs as we’ve come to know them to Google Places. Not the same professional panache, but I can see where they’re going. And where they’re also going is paid Google Places, so if you haven’t claimed your Google Places listing at Google Maps yet – do it now while it’s still free.

Paul Robertson new boss for Shaw’s Canwest television networks

May 4th, 2010

Having read this morning that my ol’ friend Paul Robertson, former President of Corus Television has been named by Jim Shaw to oversee the “new assets” : a very long list of conventional and specialty television networks held until yesterday by Goldman Sachs, it’s time to buy some Shaw stock because Paul is absolutely the best person for the big new job!
Congratulations Paul and welcome to the new order of Canadian Television.
First order of business? Who can they find to replace Kevin Newman and give the other Robertson (as in Lloyd) and Mansbridge a run for their money?
